There is a time for
everything under heaven, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to
weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to live,
and a time to die...
Well, now is time to say good-bye but
also a time to say thank you! Thank
you, my dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, for all the great times we had
together since Archbishop Jose Gomez asked me to come to work in this
community. And thanks, too, for the difficult times that we lived together
because, together, we've grown in our Christian faith! As you could already
see, there is no perfect pastor or a perfect parish community, we all have
mistakes and we should all be very thankful to God for the infinite patience
that He has, and allows us to stay in the flock, despite our sins and
infidelities. Soon will come your new pastor, and I am confident that you will
receive him with the same love and the same enthusiasm with which you welcomed
me four years ago, and you will work with him in all that he asks, with opening
heart and with a good attitude, as Scripture teaches us: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. As you know, Archbishop
Gustavo recently proclaimed his program of action for the archdiocese, so it is
time to grow, time to build, it is no time to criticize decisions, or time to
make comparisons (comparisons are odious), or time to create factions and murmur.
As our Holy Father said few weeks ago: «Faithful to the Spirit, to proclaim Jesus with our lives, through our
witness and our words. Mission…is key to ministry. A Church that does not go
out of itself, sooner or later, sickens from the stale air of closed rooms…I
prefer a thousand times over a Church of accidents than a sick Church». The Church expects much from all of
us, and now is the time to give ourselves generously! As I've said many times,
the foundation of our faith is in the Eucharist and in the love to our blessed
Mother the Virgin Mary, when I leave this community I pray that we all be souls
of Eucharist, and may we all have a great love for Mother of God. The rest will
come naturally, as taught by the gospel. Thank you, dear community, for everything
you gave me during this time. You're always in my heart and in my prayers ■ Fr. Agustin.
